Internet Music CollaborationA Video Tour
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then, a video is worth a thousand pictures... That's like... A million words...
Well, maybe a little less - These videos are pretty short...
Anyway, what we are saying is: Here are some videos we made of various VRS functions. This will give you a quick idea of the capabilities of VRS, and how to navigate around. We have really tried to make VRS simple to use - but we think these videos will answer any questions you might have about navigating VRS.
Creating a New Project
This video shows logging in to VRS and creating a new song project. It shows how to select your initial mixers and musicians, and how to assign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement to your song.

Adding Remarks
Once you have created your project, all project members can view and add remarks to the project.

Upload New Tracks

This video shows how simple it is to start sharing the tracks to your multi-track project with your other collaborators.

People (The Directory)
Some VRS members know each other in real life, or have collaborated in the past on other projects. But many are looking for new collaborators to work with because they have not been able to connect with other musicians in their area.
This is where the VRS User Directory comes in. We encourage our users to update their profiles with Tags, and descriptions that will help other like-minded musicians find them.
This video shows some of the information that is available in the User Directory, and how the directory can be searched to find collaborators for your project.

Sending Email
VRS allows you to send email messages to other VRS members. Their real Email Address is never published by VRS. But we have written an internal email director that allows you to send them an Email, just by using their VRS UserId. This has many advantages, but the main one is that anyone can change their email address in thier VRS profile, and any new VRS Email will then be routed to the new Email address.
This video shows how simple it is to send an Email to another VRS member.

VRS Want Ads
VRS Want Ads are a great way for musicians to let everyone know that they are available to collaborate on new projects, or for Project Producers (Creators) to advertise that they are seeking collaborators to work on their projects.
VRS Want Ads make connecting the right musicians to the right projects simple.
This video shows how simple it is to create a musician or project Want Ad.

VRS Chart And Chat
VRS was designed to give Internet Music Collaborators lots of options to help comunicate the direction and style of a song. To help collaborators, each VRS project has its own Chord Chart/Lyrics Sheet, and it's own separate chat room.
This video shows both the Chart and Chat functions of a VRS Project.

Emailing All Project Members
The VRS Email notification system allows you to Email individual VRS members, or all members in a project. This can be very useful if you need to notify all the members of a project that you are working on, of something important.
This video shows how simple it is to email everyone in a project.

Your VRS Member Profile
Each VRS member has a Profile that contains their Email address (Your email address is never published or given to any other VRS member) and their display name. It also has optional fields that allow each VRS member to let the other VRS members know more about them and their musical styles. For instance: A member can upload an Avatar, as well as an MP3 file of their playing. This can help other collaborators understand your musical style.
Members can also input a description of themselves and their music, as well as "Tags". Tags are really just keywords that other VRS members can use to search for you - Words like Jazz, Metal, Guitar, Vocals, Mixer, Producer, or any other keyword that you think would help other collaborators find you in the VRS Member Directory.
This is also the place where you can change your VRS password.
This video shows how simple it is to edit your VRS Member Profile.

Downloading Tracks With NDA
A unique feature of VRS is the ability to create an NDA for each project. An NDA is simply an agreement (Non-Disclosure Agreement) that must be "accepted" before ANY tracks in that project can be downloaded. This is a simple way for project creators/producers to remind each project member of the terms of this project.
We are not lawyers, and we are not sure of the legal weight that these agreements hold, but we offer them as a way to help prevent indescriminate sharing of your music. In order to download any tracks, each VRS project member MUST click on the "accept" button, otherwise the track will not be downloaded. These agreements are logged and timestamped.
If you don't want an NDA for your project, simply leave the NDA field blank when you create it, and no NDA will be assigned. NDAs are completely optional, but MUST be defined when the project is created.
This video shows how to download a track with an NDA.

Deleting Project Tracks And Mixes
In some cases, a member of a project may want to remove a track or mix that they uploaded. This is a simple process, but it does have some rules: A VRS project "musician" can only upload tracks (not mixes), and can only delete the tracks that they uploaded. A VRS project "mixer" can upload both tracks and mixes, but again - may only delete the tracks and mixes that they uploaded. The project creator/producer can upload or delete any tracks and mixes, whether they uploaded them or not.
This video shows how to delete a track.

Deleting A Project
When a VRS song project has been completed, the creator/producer may want to delete it. This is a simple process, but it does have one simple rule: Only the project creator/producer can delete an entire project.
Please make sure you have backed up all the tracks and mixes before you delete a project: We do not keep backups for more than a day, so once your project is deleted the tracks and mixes are gone and cannot be restored.
This video shows how to delete an entire project.
